What a great little town - April 25

We did a bottle drive today for the Youth Bowling - and to help out with the girl's trip to Nationals that is coming up soon.

We went out in groups - 1 adult and 2 - 4 kids in a vehicle. We sectioned off the town into six and off we went. We started at 9 am and we planned on ending around 3.

At 10:30, I received a DISTRESS call from the bottle depot from Shayne - "MOM - COME HELP WE ARE SWAMPED!!"

My response: "WHAT??? ALREADY??? WE JUST STARTED!!!". My group hadn't been having much luck so off we went. I was absolutely stunned when I got there. There was already a pile of bags of bottles around 25 bags long and 6 bags wide and 7 bags tall already. And they just kept coming.

Coach Kevin with his group went to around 15 houses and collected PILES AND PILES. So much so that Shayne finally told him he wasn't allowed to go anymore.

We had a spot right outside the bottle depot and people coming in would give us bottles as well.

After sorting all the bottles and cans etc, we ended up with a grand total of $1680 (and some change). Then the bottle depot themselves donated $20 to us. We also received two donations of $100 that day that was dropped off at the bowling alley.

All totalled since we started fundraising a month ago, through the bottle drive, a hot dog sale, a silent auction and just cash donations, we have raised over $3000.

What a great little town.
