May started with a bang

May started with a bang - or rather a rush.

We headed out to the airport on Friday for Toronto. Left Bailey at home to be picked up by her coach as she was flying out with the team on a different flight.

The drive in was uneventful. When we got to the airport, we could not find Julie - our travelling companion. She is Cortney's mom.

She has never travelled outside of Alberta before and has NEVER been on a plane.

We got through customs fine and into the boarding area where we grabbed a quick bite to eat to take on the plane with us.

The flight was good. Julie did really well during the entire flight too. Was a little anxious during take off and landing but that is okay.

We arrived in Toronto around 2 pm Toronto time and waited for our rental vehicle. We were supposed to have a 13 passenger van but they could only give us a mini-van for the first day. It was a tight fit but we made it.

Driving in Toronto was an interesting experience. Wide wide roads and PILES of traffic.

Got to the hotel and checked in. They had a nice room for us - a little squashed once we got the roll-away cot in there though. Good thing we wouldn't be in there for long. Had a good view of some buildings from our room - no parks to be seen anywhere.

We headed down to the restaraunt and had a good meal and sat back and waited for the kids to arrive. When they did, they ate and we headed to bed - with it being midnight by this time.

Tomorrow would be a long day with the opening ceremonies and then a full afternoon of bowling for the girls.
