Playa Del Carmen - Jan 10

Saturday morning. Time to go and do some of our own exploring.

We had been to Playa Del Carmen the last time we were here so knew a little bit of what to expect. LOTS of walking on the beach. Most of the resorts have their own "piece of the beach" with chairs etc. for the people staying there...and "non-customers" are not welcome. Last time, we could not find a place to sit so ended up just walking around town.

This time we were lucky. There are a few places that are privately owned and are just "bar - nightclub" type places. This one was really nice. They had little "beds" out on the beach with chairs and umbrellas. The only condition to using one was you had to eat/drink from their establishment. NOT a problem we said and settled down to have a great relaxing day.

We all went in and out of the water. It was a little windy so the water was rough. Shayne was in his glory.

We ordered drinks and they were delicious. We also ordered quesidillas (my spelling is horrible). Two shrimp and two chicken...YUMMY!!!

Shayne started digging in the sand and this is what he came up with...and "underpass" system. I think his schooling is paying of in some ways???

It started cooling off in the later afternoon, so we figured we would head into town and do a bit of shopping. Shayne wanted to buy a couple things for his friends...and so did Bailey so that is what we concentrated on first thing. We found a few little knick knacks and continued on our way. We also bought t-shirts, sweats and shorts at another little store.

One thing that I was really looking for was another diamond pendant to replace the one I had lost earlier in the week. I found it...at Diamonds International. It was just stunning...but a little out of our price range. So I kept looking and looking and looking. But nothing anywhere else.

It was getting dark so we started looking for a place to eat. We found one that was offering some great fresh seafood. Doyle asked them about their lobster prices...so this is what they did...they brought out a platter with three lobsters and a scale.

It was set down next to Bailey and she was not overly thrilled to see them. And then it happened...ONE OF THEM MOVED. She freaked. LOL

But she was still okay to order one for her supper. So did Doyle. They each picked out their own. Shayne and I decided on steak and lobster. That was a cool dish. They threw in some shrimp for us too. I couldn't eat it all so shared my meal with everyone else. The drinks were massive too.

The restaurant had a Mariachi band that came around and played for each table. It was a very cool night.
