Sept 16 - Horses and horse trailers

All the horses here are FAT FAT FAT. We put Molson and Hyde together and they are best buddies. We first put them side by side in the wooden pens and let them get used to each other...and then turned them out in the arena (safest fence I have)...and there was NOTHING. No noise...no show off stuff. They just ate from one hay pile and then went to the next like they were glued together at the shoulder.

My good friend Paige got a new trailer - a beautiful new trailer with living quarters to die for. It made me do some dreaming and even looking up here but there is nothing that I can afford. BOO HOO But like Paige reminded me...I don't haul anywhere...never mind haul AND camp at the same time...so I really don't need anything like that. WHEW...good thing I have a friend with a good head on her
shoulders to keep me in line. LOL

Sept 16 - Puppy update

the pups are doing really well. They will be 2 weeks old tomorrow. I have sales pending on 2 of the females. They are sooo cute. Eyes are just opening...they are starting to walk and bark and growl.

We have:

1 male - has a full face mask with a spot in the middle, body spots
1 female - small face mask with 4 body spots
1 male - small face mask and entire butt and tail colored (brown)
1 male - solid white
1 female - solid white
1 female - full face mask and one spot at base of tail
1 male - full face mask going onto shoulder and body spots
1 male - small face mask and entire butt and tail colored (black)

Sept 3 - WE HAVE PUPPIES

Maggie and Max became parents today while everyone was gone.

There are EIGHT little wonders.

Maggie had them in the shop. We haven't had a real good go-over of them all yet as Maggie is being super protective...growling and snapping at us. So we are going to let her settle and will try to have a good looksee tomorrow.

We did manage to move them quickly to the blanket while Maggie was having some food and water. Doyle just got back in from doing a check on everything and all the pups are back on the dirt - but surrounded by Maggie - so hopefully they will stay warm.

Sept 1 - We are getting tired!!!

We are working very long hours – many days in a row.

Shutdown has started. This is when the refinery shuts down production to make needed repairs to lines and furnaces etc.

The other thing this means is that our work hours go way way way up.

Right now, Doyle is working a "12 and 2" shift meaning he is working 12 days in a row and then 2 days off. I am working 13 and 1. Which really sucks.

Doyle also works 12 hrs shifts while mine have stayed at 10 for the most part. I do Monday to Saturday 10 hrs...then Sunday is 7...then Monday to Thursday 10 and then Friday/Saturday 6. So not all of them are full days. But it is starting to wear on us.

This will continue until the 25th of September.

Sept 1 - Gunner is going to the Supreme

I am getting very excited!!! I sure hope he does well!!!

First go is September 29...second go is September 30...with the finals on Saturday, October 4.

I can't get down there until the 3rd due to work...so I have told Jason he "HAS TO" make it to the finals.

Sept 1 - Pheonix is leaving

Pheonix is also leaving today for his new home. Just got the call that Rod has found a trailer. I went out and took some pics of the little man. We will sure miss him...he is such a sweetheart.

I hope he loads well...Rod said his buddy is bringing a stock type trailer.

I took a few pictures of him before he left...he sure turned into a stunning colt.

August 30 - Vacation time booked!!!

Our 2009 winter vacation has been booked. We are going back to Cancun with Shayne and Bailey for the first two weeks of January. Now to find some good cheap airfare. We are gong to try to fly United to use up our vouchers that we were given for the mess up with the cruise and our luggage.

We own a timeshare in the Mayan Riviera. It is with the Mayan Palace group of resorts. There are 7 (I think) in Mexico with expansions happening over the next 20 years into the US, Europe and Austrailia.

Here is a link to the resort:

August 30 - Hectic times

Had an interesting week.

On Tuesday, Mike from work came out and decided to take Cuba - my friend's horse that she was trying to find a home for. Cuba will be staying here - being boarded. The down side of that is that Mike was also originally interested in buying
Gidget but now has decided against her at this time. SUCKS as that sure would have helped the horse finances. LOL

Also had a lady and her dad stay over on Thursday. They are travelling from Alaska to Illinois (just north of Paige)...along with the lady's two horses. Kim's husband is in the US airforce and is stationed in Anchorage...but right now he is on his third tour in Iraq. Her horses are going back to her parent's place in Illinois as
she is scared it will be too hard to keep up with everything in the winter on her own in Alaska...plus she said the cost up there to keep a horse is OUTRAGEOUS.

I now have the next 2 days off and will be busy doing house stuff...horse stuff (I am hoping Pheonix will go this weekend to his new owner's - or I am going to start charging board as I am feeding the little guy hay as he is still running the fence whenever he can see his mom so needs to be penned).

Doyle and I are also going to go shopping for a new washer and dryer...and a new bed maybe.

Melissa has also moved out of her boyfriend's apartment. While he seemed to be a very nice guy...he was very immature and needy. Even to the point of "faking" a headache so she would have to stay home with him instead of coming out here...and faking so good that he would say he needs to go to the hospital...and when she wouldn't take him he would have a panic attack. When she decided to move out, she stayed at a friends that night...the boyfriend called her and said "you didn't come home so I let your cat outside...she's gone...happy???" Now this cat has been Melissa's best bud for 10 years and is a total house cat (may go and sit on the deck here at the farm but that's it). Their apartment is only 1/2 block from one of the busiest streets in the north end of the city. Needless to say we were panicked. She
took the day off work...rounded up some friends to help in the search. Got back to the apartment to find her cat waiting for her at the door of the apartment - INSIDE THE APARTMENT. He lied to get her home faster. When she called me and told me - I LOST IT. What immaturity!!!

Anyways..that has been the sum total of my week. LOL

August 28 - Flowers

I decided to take a couple of hours and play with my camera. I love the flowers I found this year for my front garden and hadn't been able to get really good shots of them with the old camera.

They all turned out really nice...took lots of time to finally get good ones of the flowers.

Yellow Daisy

Orange Daisy

White Petunia

Red flower (have no idea what they are called)
